D.ipsum is correct, but for a newcommer it may need to be explained more detailed, also the success depends on using the right automation curve.

The actual controller you need to automate is ofcause the BMP-setting:
-But it is important, that you choose a non-discreete curveform, so only 2. or 3. automation curve-form, will make a good result
