Compile on Windows - hang on cmake

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi folks,

i really like LMMS, but miss the ability to use FX Channels with sample-tracks (i know, it's in the making).
So i just want to take a look to the most current version.

Since yesterday i try to compile LMMS in Windows Server 2016 Standard GUI (current patchlevel)
All dependencies and requiered steps are taken like discribed at the wiki (so far, so good, no problems),
but when i run "../cmake/build_mingw64.sh" oder "../cmake/build_mingw32.sh" nothing happens and i got only a "no response" on the mintty-window-title.

I checked with task-manager, ressource-monitor and sysinternals process-explorer and see, that nothing happens on cmake.exe, it stucks forever (after a night nothing changed).

I tried with MSYS SYS, MSYS MinGW 32 and MinGW 64-terminals, with qt4 and qt5, with and without antivirus (only onboard defender), master and stable-1.2 branches, no success at all.

Any ideas whats happen or how i can get this work?

Thanks forward.

Regards,

Andy

No dont, (its complicated..) If you are on any windows version DL the latest tested build of RC, or the latest stable 1.1.3 (but you want the latest update i understood..)

The RCs are not perfect. There are bugs. first and foremost -do not use arpeggio, that will undoubtedly be changed!
Do like

for now
But there are more.

Newest binaries for windows:
32 b : https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/releases/d ... -win32.exe
64 b : https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/releases/d ... -win64.exe
Hi musikbear,

thanks for your reply.

I use the most current rc and it works good for me.
It's only that thing with the missing fx-channel-support for sample-tracks that i miss.

Are the chances better to compile on linux the windows and/or linux-version?

Regards,

Andy
Unless I am missing something, why would you wanna compile lmms on Windows?

Downloading and clicking the exe gives you the same LMMS version as far as I know.
Hi Gps,

the most recent 1.2.0-RC4 is still missing the fx-channels-support for sample-tracks.
Maybe i'm wrong, but i hoped this feature is in the git-repo:

Sample Tracks: FX Mixer Support #3632: https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/pull/3632# ... -317638049
Support FX Mixer for sample tracks and add controls to sample track window #3866: https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/pull/3866

So that's the reason, why i want to compile lmms (on Windows or Linux doesn't matter), the Windows Server 2016-VM is my current test-machine for different things (not only lmms), but i can install linux, too.

Andy

Correct, but Master is really only for development.
But -yes, if you want to compile, do it on linux

You should absolutely use the arpeggiator. 8-)

@andydld
As for compiling lmms on Windows, people actually do this and at least one of the developers is doing all his work there. I think most of the persons who compile on Windows is on our Discord server (chat...). I'd ask in the #support channel.
