Piano Roll Notes Not Placing Correctly

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hey all, first time poster and user here.

So, like all of you, i'm trying to make a song and something's not working.
I'm using a piano VST with the Vestige host, the problem is, the piano roll editor won't let me place notes where i want to.
It keeps magnetizing them to different points.

For example: If i'm trying to place a quarter note on the 0th beat of a measure it works fine. Same with the 1st 2nd and 3rd beats. But if i try to place it so it starts on the 0.5 beat of a measure, it will snap to the 0th or 1st.

It does the same thing to smaller notes, making the VST useless.

Does anyone know whats going on here? I'm super confused.

Thanks a bunch,

If you want a more precise position on notes you should change the Quantization. It is found right side of the zoom or magnification axis in Piano-Roll. The icon has capital letter Q in white color.

The smaller the value, the more precise. If the value in the quatization is multiple of 4 (1/16 1/32, 1/64) those value is for the song where beats are 2 or 4 in each measure, e.g. 4-4, 2-4. (the numerator must be multiple of 2) While for the 3 beats is 1/3, 1/6, 1/12 that is found below the 1/64 is for time signatures 3-4, 3-8, 6-8, etc. (The numerator should be multiples of 3)

1/1 means one note (positioned on the first beat) per measure
1/2 means 2 notes positioned on the first beat and third beat/measure
1/4 means 1 note for each beat/measure
1/16 means 2 notes for each beat/measure
and so on...
(^^^these only apply to 4 or 2 beat song)

You can change the quantization by using the mouse wheel or clicking the left arrow beside it.

hope this helps.

You can learn about piano-roll here:

The setting you need to look at is as vortexsupernova says the Q-value

The default value is 1/16, but you can choose any of the selects values.
But you can also place notes without Q-value. You then need to move notes with alt pressed down. that will make the notes sound 'humanized'
Later we hope to introduce this feature as an post-edit-option.
