lmms crashes a lot, how can I help, I'm not a coder

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I've been using lmms in Linux for a couple years in various Ubuntu and Debian based distros from 16.04 - 17.10. I've also ran it in the kxstudio distro on and off.

Now I know a lot of work goes into lmms and other projects Falktx is in charge of and resources are limited. However, lmms crashes constantly. No matter what distro, no matter how I set it up. It doesn't matter whether or not I run Windows VST's (although it crashes far more often with them). Sometimes it'll crash just sitting idle with a blank project in it.

Instead of making this some sort of unconstructive rant, I want to try to help. I love the concept of the program and it fits my workflow the best. I'm no coder but I want to contribute somehow. I want to help make lmms better. I've never submitted a bug report in my life and the explanation on Github was a little confusing but I'm willing to learn.

So I'm here, how can I help?
Which version of lmms are you using?

Since you will see if you look at other posters, not everyone that runs lmms in linux has serious crash issues, then the obvious is that it is you who have a problem.
Linux is a great os, but it has the native 'flaw', of being general customable. That is a serious advantage, for the really clever computer savey experts, they can fine-tune Linux, and get fantastic performance.
It is however not so good for the average user. A game suggest to install dit component, a viewer need dut component aso
In the end, the installation is a mess, with conflicting crap, and a lot of processes that runs for no reason!

Most of the really serious issues with running lmms, happens on linux..
This is just my personal feelings. others would disagree, and some will 'put it to me'.
Oki that does not solve your issue
so-
Have you read the section in wiki about linux issues?
This is specially for vst issues
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=Wo ... _.26_Linux
This part is for wine-issues -Do you have that maby..?
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=Wo ... _with_WINE

but im not linux clever at all - so : [ ..
..back to what version i guess ?

I've already been through those wiki posts. A long time ago actually, But thanks. I'm far from new to Linux. It just seems that since it's happening to me across multiple distros and multiple versions of those distros and (I forgot to mention) two very different machines and different versions of wine it can only lead to one conclusion. The problem has to be with lmms. That's not to say other software that runs alongside lmms doesn't have issues (especially wine) but lmms is what's crashing here.

I'm willing to bet there are a lot of people that throw up their hands in frustration and never report issues. I'm guilty of that with other apps in the past.

I'm here volunteering to possibly submit bug reports or do anything else I can do to hopefully make lmms better. I like the app and I'm not here to rant but to try to help.

lmms-1.1.3 is a bit dated. Test the latest beta of the next version, lmms-1.2. It should be more stable. The latest beta release is currently lmms-1.2.0-rc5.

Thanks!

I'll definitely give 1.2 a spin. I also appreciate the clarification on reporting bugs. I was a little confused by the lmms wiki vs what's on Github. That's probably just me though.
