Map Midi notes 2 pads on MIDI keyboard & separate controller

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I have been looking through the various postings and tutorials regarding mapping MIDI notes, and there appears to be varying degrees of confusion on the part of the people responding to the posts. I have a Novation Launchkey Mini and a Novation Launchkey 49, both MKII and am considering purchasing a Novation Launchpad Mini. In all cases, a MIDI signal is sent from the pads, that are the same as some of the notes on the keyboard. For example, using the SF2 Player, the keyboard is set to the input (channel 1) and plays like a Yamaha Grand Piano. Despite a channel 2 registered for the keyboard, it seems impossible to map the MPC pads on the keyboard to Kicker, so that piano and drums can be recorded and played at the same time. Is it possible or not? Does LMMS support MPC pad controllers such as the Novation Launchpad Mini?

MIDI events for the Novation Launchpad Mini pads are as follows:

#1
16:42:33.071 Ch 10, Note On 40, Vel 11
16:42:33.336 Ch 10, Note Off 40

Note that all pads are on channel 10, which seems to be default for all MIDI keyboards with pads.

It would be extremely useful to be able to change MIDI keyboard MPC pad mappings similarly to Reaper, by way of plugins, but any option is better than none at this point as keyboards with MPC pads and MPC controllers have been available for quite a few years. This is how Reaper does it:

I have no midi device so im out
Channel 10 is the General MIDI default channel for drums. That's why many pad controllers default to that channel.

I've never had any problem mapping different MIDI channels to different instruments. In case my memory was faulty I just tried it with my M-Audio keyboard...keys on Ch1 driving Triple Osc, pads on Ch10 driving Kicker. No problem.

But I've never needed to remap the actual notes inside a DAW because the MIDI controllers I've seen or used allow you to set what MIDI notes are sent by the pads (and usually also set the MIDI channel number if it's a real MPC device). If the Novation doesn't have that basic feature then I wouldn't use one.
