Importing music files

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I JUST downloaded LMMS and so far I like it quite a bit, but I'm defiantly lost. This past month is the first time I've really gotten into anything "tech-savvy" and into creating digitized music. I tried quite a few different programs before finding LMMS. Because of this, I have a some files in WAV, mp3, and m4a. These are sound bites that I worked my butt off to get what I wanted out of them. But I really want to use them and try to create something from them. Problem is, I can't for the life of me figure out how to import them. I have a soundfont, and that got rid of one pop-up every time I attempt to import a file, but I still get one that says "Couldn't find a filter for importing file C:/Users/mbarg_000/Desktop/abigail's music/Lofi Sample Files/FrenchRainPiano.m4a.
You should convert this file into a format supported by LMMS using another software."

I looked into how to convert files to MIDI but all the tutorials I found require me to download other systems and my computer can only take so much. And since I'm just getting into this and only work part time, I have no interest in spending money on a conversion program. At least not til I'm a little better at this.

Below is the link to the soundfont I set up as my default.

Any help is much appreciated!
Have you tried importing into a sample track? At the top of the song editor, there is a button that says "Add Sample Track". Click it, then select your sound file.

Lmms support wave ogg and flac. From RC5 we also support saving mp3
You should make sure you understand the difference between lossless formats like wave and ogg-forbis, and lossy formats like mp3 and flac (amo)
Lossy samples, will never give you the best sound! However they are also h u g e in size, so its a weighed problem..
Most of the samples shipped with lmms, is lossless wave and ogg!

You can most about how to use samples here:

Ok, but i would recommend the general-user, because that covers the whole midi-table, and is used as default when you import midi-files

Do not hesitate to ask, if you have problems
Wish you good luck, dude. I am also newbie here. Making music was a small hobby for me all my life, but only this year I decided to create something absolutely unique. Of course, I have got any questions, especially "Where to get unusual sounds in a suitable format?" And the solution turned out to be very unconventional. I tried to cut out the individual sounds from YouTube videos using converter mp3. It is easy, because you immediately get the file in the appropriate format for further work. Hope that it will help someone

As there is written above, you need to push the button "Add Sample Track", it gives you opportunity to download mp3 and mp4 files
Sorry, no it does not. LMMS cant import MP3/4 (4 is video..)
Our sample-tracks can load
wav, ogg, ds, spx, au, voc, aif, aiff, flac

Besides that, since you are new in Forum
