Samples are inaudible

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I'm fairly new to LMMS and have had great fun with it for the past week, however I'd like to import samples that I have recorded on Audacity into the software. Every time i have done this the sound on the sample just doesn't work but it works everywhere else. I have tried using a WAV file and an OGG file but nothing that I try seems to work. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Are you using the audio file processor ?

Did you put a note in the piano roll ( length of sample ) ?

thanks.
In Audacity, did you export as follows:
- WAV (Microsoft) signed 16-bit PCM
- Ogg Vorbis (quality = 10)

Then, if you are on windows, I think that the ideal is to place your samples in a personal folder in C:\Users\lmms\samples

Then you have two ways to open your samples:
- via AudioFileProcessor. When you bring up the interface of this plugin, there is an icon representing a folder (in the middle right of the interface). It is via this icon that you can load your samples. Once the sample is loaded, press the Y key on your keyboard and you must hear your sample.
- via SampleTrack. You must place a "block" in the SongEditor sequencer, double click on this block to reveal an interface allowing you to load a sample.

Is this familiar to you?
And does it work?

Hi, Welcome to the Forum gtkk !

-A few rules and useful forum instructions
sample just doesn't work :: I have tried using a WAV file and an OGG file
Besides all the good help you already have, Lets test if lmms works
* Shut down all open programs
* shut down !Not sleep!! -your pc, wait 2 mins and reboot
* open lmms default -eg load no projects!
* open This project: "projects\demos\Greippi - Krem Kaakkuja (Second
Flight Remix).mmpz" (thats a test-projects for various reasons)

Press play.
What happens? Does it make sound?

If you have sound, then open the very first track in the project : Kick01.ogg
That track is now Active

Look at its representation of the waveform!

Thats how an active soundfile must look!
Now in the side-bar,

open My Samples
* Browse down to any of those you have made in Audacity -obs, that you have a token-search-field!
* Rest mouse over Your found sample's name, and press left-mouse
Did it make sound?

* right-click your sample and choose "Send-to-active-instrument-track"
Your sample is now substituted with Kick01.ogg

Do you see a representation of the waveform again?
With mouse Press the A4 key- (that is default key for sample-pitch) on the preset-keyboard, the one from the previous picture.
Did you get a sound?

Finally, if everything went fine, up to now -play the project, and listing for your own sample to ..kick in at Bar 7
You could solo

the track, in song-editor, and then only your sample would be audible
Lets know how all went.
