Pitch bend range always defaults to a value of 2.

Hi,
I'm new on the forums and also in LMMS.
I came here after discovering that I can't change the pitch range value of my MIDI file from 2 to 12 semitones (like it should be), and no matter what you do because it simply defaults to a value of 2. So, what's the deal with this odd behaviour? It seems like deleting the global automation lets you "change" it, but it doesn't affect the way it sounds, nope, it simply stays at 2.

That is because MIDI-files conceal a lot of data. You need to 'release' those, or the MIDI-file will simply nullify the changes you make.

Right-click on the PITCH control-dial, and select Remove-global-automation
I expect the concealed data to be connected there

Let us know the outcome :)

Thanks! I truly appreciate your fast and friendly reply. I was so happy when I found out this free DAW that I wanted to test my projects on it as soon as possible.

I feel so ashamed, just realised what I said wasn't what I intended saying. The thing is that I couldn't change the pitch bend range from a MIDI instrument track (within the default SF2 player plug-in) and not from MIDI messages itself.
Oh, I forgot to say that this MIDI file sounds out of tune… ONLY when importing it into LMMS. Also, I attempted the option you suggested before, although, I had no luck with that nor with anything I have tried whatsoever.

Your help is very appreciated. :)

NP. :)

Sorry, LMMS does not support pitch-bend in SF2 ( and also not in VSTs).
Later SFx may be implemented.

Some SF's will not work in LMMS, -That is also true for some few VSTs:

We are constantly trying to fix these problems.
For a good default SF, i recommend "GeneralUser" We link to it here:

I finally understand! Acoustica Mixcraft currently does not support the pitch bending either. But, I still feel am missing something on here: why do we have both the pitch bend and range knobs if the said feature isn't present yet?

Thanks, I have been using that SoundFont to a great extent, mainly because it always has been Mixcraft's default instrument set. It's genuinely good.

On the other hand, I luckily have come across this article in Cockos Reaper's forum; there, a user explained that it is possible to set the pitch bend range through some MIDI messages (RPN LSB & MSB to be precise) although he confirmed some plug-ins do not support them. Well, since you told me that LMMS lacks support for pitch bending in its default SF2 Player, I ran the SFZ plug-in (which I checked and is compatible with those messages) through VeSTige… only to find out LMMS is ignoring them. I tried searching all over this DAW and found nothing that would let me adjust those parameters.

Lastly, I apologise if I'm getting extremely irritant, but I don't want to give up on this DAW before I positively experiment with it.

As always, any help would be more than welcome. :)

Yes, afaik it is not supported. Full SFz will be, downstream, but not scheduled

This info is quite old. You should be able to use sfz in Sforzando now in 1.2.1
