How to save melody in a song editor?

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hello guys.

I am new in LMMS. I have been using LMMS the for several days and with the help of a few tutorials I have mastered the program's interface in a basic degree but of course even simple things still can make difficult for me.
Let's say that I run the program first time and I use the basic interface, without adding any vst plugins. There is only song editor, percussion and bass editor, mixer and rack controllers.
So, I choose Triple Oscillator and open the piano editor and create simple melody.
Let's say when I leave the piano roll and accidentally press the mouse wheel and remove the patern with the melody I created.
And this is my question. How can I keep previously created melody from accidental deletion? Is there any way to quickly restore the accidentally removed melody?
I thought that the song editor is more like a playlist where I just put all instruments and different melodies into one whole.
I miss something like a separate melody editor similar to the bass and drums editor. It would be certainly make it harder by accident to remove melodies in a piano roll.
Currently, to protect against accidental removal the melody from song editor, eg from the VST plugins I adds them to the bass and percussion editor, and the song editor I treat as playlists.
As I wrote earlier, I use LMMS only a few days so I do not know all the possibilities of the program yet.
Undo?
Good habit on any work computer based, hit the save button when you have accomplished something you like.

If then you accidentally do something that screws up your achievement, exit the program without saving and relaunch.

Your last save will be restored.

If you have installed our 1.2.0, then just as Failte200 says, you can use Undo That is invoked just as in any other program with hold Ctrl tab 'z', or you can use the option in the Edit-menu.

It is :)

No, dont do that. Its a backward way to use LMMS. Instead follow the advice you got from Incorruptable, and simply just press the save-button, every time you have made something you like
Also you should know, that LMMS has no less than two safe-guards from loosing work! Read about those here:

Thank you. Indeed, Undo (Ctrl + Z) is very useful and works.
For now I have created only a few short one, two minute demos to get to know the program better.
Currently on my laptop I have Lubuntu 18.04 and I am using LMMS version 1.1.3 which I downloaded from the software center. I know that there is a version 1.2.0 but I didn't have an upgrade yet, but I will check version 1.2.0 on my PC with Windows.
I have some experience with DAW program but I had over 10 years break because the family and duties obligations.
But I want to again, of course in amateur way creating some music as a hobby but a lot of informations flew out of my head and I have to start again.
In the past, I used the Synapse Orion program but it looks like it is not developed anymore and I became interested in LMMS.
I know that LMMS is similar to FL Studio but I almost never used this program. I used only Orion, so it's little hard to me get used to the new program after a long break, but I think I can master the program in the future.
Now I will be use Bass and Percussion Editor only for percussion instruments and sound effects like a Trance noise effects.
The 1.2 version is available as an "AppImage" for Linux. I use it at home on Linux Mint 19 (I think) and it even runs at work on CentOS 7 - so that's pretty flexible. I just wish it was easy to find other AppImages... most of the entries in the AppImage Hub (don't have the URL handy) don't seem to have a download button. Plus, I'm suspicious of anything executable from unknown sources - anyone could put anything into an AppImage, and you run it and BAM! malware.
We do have to trust the Appimage builders, which is less secure but.....

After many issues with trying to compile LMMS myself, for me the Appimage version is awesome. :)

I am on openSUSE, and from the forum I learned that most package builders, not just the opensuse guys, don't know LMMS.
This causes all sort of issues, the users need to report to the package builders. ( not the LMMS forum ;) )

On Linux LMMS needs wine to be able to read vst, which is a nice example of something going wrong on about every distro around.
I had to tell the package builders it was not working right because I was missing Vestige.

I am a Linux fan, and although it might be less secure, I love AppImage. :)

True, but you can trust the AppImage on the official download site:

to upgrade!

*If you have made anything ...Back-up your own stuff
*Un-install current installation
*(re)move the config dot-file
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=LM ... h_Settings
*download a fresh new installation-pack either x32 or x64 of
LMMS 1.2.0
https://lmms.io/download/#windows
32 Bit:
https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/releases/d ... -win32.exe
64 Bit:
https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/releases/d ... -win64.exe
*re-install as administrator and grant all users access
Linux-users need the AppImage on the Linux-tab!
This is however only available as x64

Speaking of melodies,

I was searching for an LMMS version of "Seven Nation Army" (White Stripes) last night. There's several in the Sharing section. But NOT ONE of them attempts to re-create the melody of the song. They're all just the base line, over and over and over (and over). That doesn't work for me. Apparently it works for a lot of other people and that's fine, but the melody of that song is the best part (IMHO). The "2 Cellos" guys do an amazing cover (google is your friend) but no LMMS artist does - that they've uploaded, anyway.

I can hear you from here - "Well Failte200, why don't YOU make one then?"

Y'know what? Maybe I just will. 'S not like a real complicated song... and I kind of need a break from my current effort. I'm slow tho, don't be expecting it soon.
