No VSTs working on my new computer

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi!
I've recently taken all my VSTs and other samples and transferred them to my new computer. Then I installed LMMS (versions 1.2.0) on that computer. None of my VSTs will load now. Samples and SFs load normally, however VSTs don't. Whenever I select the VST loader and choose a dll file from my list of VSTs nothing happens. I do not even get an error notification. All my dll files were working just fine on my old computer and I do not know what to do.

Thx in advance

PS.: dll files also do not work when I drag them manually from the list of samples into the drums/bassline editor.
What is you're operating system?

Have you read our wiki about vst ?

That is because your path for the folder with your VST-DLLs no longer is the same. Go into settings| paths, select the VST-path, and browse to the folder where you NOW have placed all your VSTs

I cant make sense of that. you are not supposed to drag VSTs into drums/bassline editor, only Samples, embedded in AudioFileProcessor, can be dragged into drums/bassline editor
Do you mean Edit/Settings/Directory?

As far as I know you can drag not only samples (VAWs) to your bassline editor, but also SFs, VSTs, presets etc. On my previous computer I was able to do that. On this one I can do it with everything but VSTs.

My system is Windows 10.

Do you mean Edit/Settings/Directory?
yes Edit/Settings/ Directories , (recently renamed) then look for the VST-plugin Directory
Set that path to the folder where you have your VST-dll's, save settings, restart LMMS.
That should work
It doesn't work.
When I installed LMMS (1.1.3) on a second computer I had to put my VSTs in precisely the same directory location as the old computer because my saved project files could not find them. They were in the remains of a directory of an old DAW I used. So I justed created the same path on the second computer. Not sure if this applies to 1.2.0

It doesn't work.
Then it is botched :|
IF you are sure, that your path in Directories is correct, AND you have 1.2.0 installed, AND you are on win10, then something is wrong..
My guess is that it is a privilege issue
Problems with win10-foldes will occur if
  • * You have installed LMMS in the same directory as your windows!
  • * You installed as Admin, but attempt to use LMMS from a user-account

Have you done any of those 2 mistakes?

If not it starts to be a bit complicated.
I think we can skip the basic-vst-test, because IF i understood you correctly, the VST that does not work on your new pc, din work on your old pc' LMMS -right?

If none of these apply, then i think the simplest thing is a fresh start:
...Back-up your own stuff
*Un-install current installation
*(re)move the config dot-file
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=LM ... h_Settings
*download a fresh new installation-pack either x32 or x64 of
LMMS 1.2.0
https://lmms.io/download/#windows
32 Bit:
https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/releases/d ... -win32.exe
64 Bit:
https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/releases/d ... -win64.exe
*re-install as administrator and grant all users access

Let us know the outcome :)
Ok, I reinstalled it on a different hard drive and it works, for some reason. Thx, for helping me out.
