Recover a lost project?

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I was working on a song for a good 2 hours and then LMMS stopped responding. Is it possible to recover what I had?
(I don't think you need to know specs for this one...?)

What lmms?

It depends -if you had automated timed saving invoked, you will have a rescue file
That file will depending on the lmms-version you used, be available :

LMMS<=1.1.3 UNTIL YOU RESTART LMMS
Look for the file manually in the project folder, and RENAME it xyz.mmp!

LMMS>1.1.3 (RC) You will be prompted the next time you start lmms, that a rescue-file exists, and you can ask lmms to attempt to recreate it.
IF you find a and recreate a rescue-file, you should EMEDIATELY save this file as a mmp/mmpz on your disk.

If you have backup invoked, then you have a backup-file with the content of the project that was present the last time you actually made a file-save manually.
That file will be in you project folder, and have the name:
<projectName.BAK
Simply rename the file <projectName.mmp

If you had neither, then the project is lost
I had neither, but know that I know, it won't happen again. Thanks!
Somehow I had the willpower to redo as well as I could what I had done and I really like it now.

Try saving the file to a different location. Such as C:\Users\(your home directory) ín windows.

Yes, thats are your rights to the folders, and just as Mr_LMMS_user says, you need to find a folder where you have writing rights
However, getting this error indicate that you have made mistakes in installing LMMS!
You should install with Administrator privileges AND grant all users full access!

I would recommend to do this:
*If you have made anything ...Back-up your own stuff
*Un-install current installation
*(re)move the config dot-file
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=LM ... h_Settings
*download a fresh new installation-pack either x32 or x64 of
LMMS 1.2.1
https://lmms.io/download/#windows
32 Bit:
https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/releases/d ... -win32.exe
64 Bit:
https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/releases/d ... -win64.exe
*re-install as administrator and grant all users access
Linux-users need the AppImage on the Linux-tab!
This is however only available as x64
https://lmms.io/download/#linux
Linux: In Edit| Settings| Misc -Disable'Sync VST plugins to host playback'!!!
MAC:
10.13+
https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/releases/d ... c10.13.dmg
or
10.8+
https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/releases/d ... ac10.8.dmg
MAC does not support VST, zasfx, lb302 and soundfonts.

Rem. to backup before you reinstall!
Let us know the outcome :)

Besides that, since you are new in Forum
