Issues loading VSTS with Vestige

I've installed LMMS, however I've come across a weird issue loading VST's. I've tried looking for solutions, but unfortunately cannot find any.

Essentially what happens, is when I go to load the VST. (Either through doing it manually, or dragging and dropping.) It does not do anything, doesn't spit any errors, doesn't load anything, etc etc. I've tried 6 vsts and none of them loaded through Vestige.

However, when I take the same VSTs and try to load them as effects (Which, of course doesn't make them usable in the midi). It does load them up perfectly fine.

If anyone knows why this is, or any tips to fix it let me know!!

VST-instruments must be inserted in the VST-stub

Have you used that?

If you have, we need more information:
please post your:
* Name of your Operative System (Windows/ Linux/ Mac) And subtype ('Home' 'Mint' '10.13' aso)
* lmms version

I've tried loading through the VST Stub, and that didn't load the VST. Doesn't spit errors or anything, just sits and does nothing.

Here are my pc specs:

OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Total Physical Memory: 16.0 GB

Soundcards:
High Definition Audio Device
NVIDIA High Definition Audio
NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)

I'm using LMMS 1.2.1

None of these loaded, but I can open them just fine as effects (Albeit what you're not supposed to do since it doesn't make them actually usable. But they do load!)

Here are my pc specs:

You have perfect setup, and all should work
-Except!!
HOW did you install LMMS!
Did you install as Administrator
It would be strange if that is the reason though, because you should have had a popup saying "no rights to open... bla bla"

I have no expirience with the VSTs you have tried, but it is not likely that you could pick so many that does not work :|
But i can see that you want a piano
Try this one: http://mda.smartelectronix.com/synths.htm
It is very small in size, and you can just copy its dll to your VST-folder. Further its a quite good piano-instrument, so it is a win win
It is also my test VST, so if that does not work, then.. :| Reinstall

Ohh.. You DO place your VST-instruments in the correct folder?
The dll-files must be in Your Documents| LMMS| Samples! -But you can use subdirectories for each, as you like.

Hi everybody !

I am all new to this and so far like LMMS but I have the EXACT same problem with the VST.
Vestige doesnt work. When I try to load a VST nothing happens. I even try the one mentionned above and still, nothing is happening when I try to load it.
I have admin rights and I tried to move them in different folders even if this doesnt make any sense to me, where it is in the computer shouldnt matter.

Anyway I am on Windows and have LMMS 1.2.1.

Yep! Everything is right where it's supposed to be

The only thing that doesn't work is Vestige, so while I'm reinstalling I wanna ask. In the event that it doesn't work, is there anyway I can just download Vestige on it's own and replace them?

No, VST-instruments must use the stub.

I have the EXACT same problem with the VST.

This is very odd, but now 3 reports on the same issue, so i think this is a real problem, and im afraid it could be a windows-update, but befor we enter that beastly area, i want you BOTH to try and replace a file in your installation, with a file i write here.
The file in question is
C:\Users\<Username>\ .lmmsrc.xml
OBS its named with a DOT infront of the name. That makes it special, and you cant delete it!
To remove it follow:

After you have removed the file Copy the code-block below, exactly as it is, and insert it in an empty NOTEPAD.
You need notepad! Anything else wont work ! You CANT use MSWord or anything that make page-formatting!
USE NOTEPAD -Or ofcause any real coder-tool..

Save the file as

C:\Users\<Username>\.lmmsrc.xml

The dot infront MUST be there!

Then shut down your pc, completely -NOT sleep!!
Wait 2 mins, and reboot
Try to load MDA piano in lmms

I was worried there could be a problem after latest win-update!
