Problem with sound quality

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I just started using this program and all of the instrument samples are very distorted sounding. I've watched tutorials on youtube and none of their samples sound anything like this. I've downloaded both the 32 and 64 bit on my win xp and they both do it. It's none of the fx either because I've tried messing with all of them and it does this as default. If anybody has any suggestions or knows what the problem is I would definetly appreciate some advice. Thanks
one thing that could cause this is the paths used in Settings
If you search you will find a topic on lost settings in general.
The short version of all this is that you are not surposed to have used any charachter in any named folder that is not in the english alphabet -as part of any of your paths.
This includes accents like ' ~ ^ or 'language speciels' like ø æ å
-Could that be the isue here too?

bad format -sorry :/
thank you very much, you saved my day. I had a similar problem with the quality of sound. I needed to increase the buffer size to improve sound quality, but whenever I restarted the software, it reset everything back to its default value. It happened that the LMMS Working Directory's name included a word with an accent. I eliminated the accent, and then everything got fixed. Now the program works smoothly. but, now that I think about it, how come that the sound has any to do with the name of the folders in my paths?
its not that the sounds is dependent of folder-names. The problem is that the char-table that is used internly does not reconize charachters from other char-tables than the std. table. So when a non-reconizeable charachter is used in a internal function, it is concieved as an error, and lmms does noting. -eg in this case the new path would be ignored. This is ofcouse a glitch, and will proberly be fixed in a later edition.

This is an interesting topic. :o I think alot of Lmms users, should read this topic.
Read this entire post here, and you'll see why..........https://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/lmms ... 2124#p2124.
She's getting problems too. :)
Hi, brandystarbrite said right, i also have this problem with sound quality.
Sometimes it might help to use for each track EQ(equalizer) you can cut a little some high or low frequencies. Or use limiter, or gate, or some settings.

Actually there is a company Cakewalk, which made very nice VSTi sfz+ plugin for DAW software, it can help you very much with sound quality problems, here is the link for it:
http://www.cakewalk.com/products/sfz/

First you have to register on that website, and than download the plugin for free. Than install it to a folder "VSTplugins" for LMMS. It sounds much better than build-in sf2 sampler, in my opinion.,

Also you can get a very good VSTi plugins producing a great sound, and they a all free, here is the link where you can download it:

http://www.vst4free.com/

And there is one more nice plugin, but i don't know yet how to install it to LMMS, haven't try it. Here is the video where you can hear how it sounds:

Sometimes i could get a pretty good sound from LMMS, but i have never got a studio sound quality like in commercial music(

Anyway you sure need to do mastering for your music, when you finish it. Use enhancer and maximizer at least.
Anyway hope what i said will help you.
