1.3.0 alpha doesn't work on XP

The current stable version works flawlessly on my ancient T42 laptop,but I really wanted to try the new version. It appears that's not gonna be able to work on XP.

It got me wondering,will the new version drop support for Win XP or will we still get compatible updates?

Sorry, if you continue to use XP, then you are limited to 1.x. There will be no updates for XP in the future.
If you have a sufficient large HD, you can add a virtual machine (VM) and run a linux distro, and you will be able to use 1.3 /when final released) on that. It is as easy as if you used a shortcut. You do need at least 4GB of ram.
