Found something on github, and it makes me happy, swing

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I only have one question, will this be in 1.3 or will I have to wait longer for this ?

I could not find it in the release notes of 1.3, that why I am asking. :)

You forgot to post the github link :)
https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/issues/1091

https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/pull/4232

:)

This is an effort coded by @teknopaul but due to merge conflicts has been taken over by @Sawuare / @PhysSong to make it into the 1.3.0 milestone.

oh no, this is ancient. its not being worked on, afaik. The (my) feature for moving selected notes by 1/192, is kind of 'a poor mans version', but that has not made it into 1.3 feature-lockdown either.
I have some ideas about how to implement fixed swing-patterns. I saw a demo of pro-tool, where they kind of can move position of 2. and 3. in a 4 note sequence. In lmms actually displacing notes is limited to 1/192 of a bar. The pro-tool method seams to allow for ms displacement. I wonder if that is needed?
If notes were to be displaced logically, then we would need to somehow make that graphically understandable! We cant have notes playing in 'odd-sequence' but still look like they are normal notes.
Is ms. displacement as in i describes for Pro-tools necessary? ..I wonder
The swing i know is 2. and 3. displacement in a 4 note sequence..

Thank you.

Let my try to explain what I would like. I ones saw a demonstration of an AtariST computer with Cubase ( v2 or so), and a yamaha DX7.

The guy made a drum pattern, and we complained about it sounding mechanical.

He then went into cubase and changed something, and boom, it sounded like a live drummer...

This was over 20 years ago, and I have no idea on what he did exactly.

I suspect he turned on humanisation and or swing.

Some background info: The atariST was just the sequencer the sound came either from a drumcomputer, a midi sound module or the DX 7.

When I make a drum pattern in LMMS, I have this same, it sounds so mechanical issue. :)

His sir-name i suppose was not Mr Potter........🧹 H. Potter..... :p

Nah propl not -Ya some kind of 'humanisation' would do that

-You saw my demo for velocity and placement 'humanisation' -it just a randomizing algorithm that displace the static values, with random variation, that would properly work somewhat like your Atari-drums -
But real swing is way more complicated.
I think i will make a tutorial over the weekend, because it is a bit hairy to explain, so might as well do it as a 'keeper' :p
Looking forward to it. :)
