how does one enable a soundfont

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hello!

I am extremely new to LMMS or any DAW for that matter, as I have only used notation software such as musescore to create music in the past. I am still trying to figure things out, but sometimes I can't find anything online that helps. I downloaded a soundfont by the name of "GeneralUser GS" to try it out but I'm not sure how to enable it. Will it give me more presets or will it just change the sound of the MIDI in LMMS? I'm not sure if any of that made sense since I am very very new to all this.

thanks

Yes GeneralUser GS utilize your complete midi-collection. You will have one instrument for each of your HW istalled midi instruments.
Install:
Firstly Open your Settings
Under Paths you will find a folderlink to Default-midi find and open that folder! -or create one.
Copy the GeneralUser GS.dll to that folder.
Reopen LMMS.
In your side-bar find the SF2-player, and drag it into song-editor
Now that will be containing the whole library

Afair, there are 12 BANKS with 12 to 128 patches, covering instruments, percussion and effects
OR you can just load the .sf2 file by clicking on the pink folder button in SF2 Player so you can use multiple different soundfonts in a project.
