Newer version of lmms via KXStudio

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I'm on a raspberry pi 4 and when i download lmms via the repository it installs version 1.1.3
I'm trying to get a newer version of LMMS and the lmms downloads page says:
If the traditional repositories lag behind on versions, try the KXStudio repository.
I went to the kxstudio link:
https://kx.studio/Repositories#Ubuntu
and downloaded the .deb file
I ran the file and it seemed to complete successfully
but now I don't know how to install lmms via the KXStudio instead of the raspberry pi repo
I'm assuming i have to somehow specify to use a differant repo but idk how
this probably isn't the right place to post this but I'm not getting any response on the rpi forums
thx :D

raspberry pi is closed of territorie for me.
I would like to know what the OS is?
In general we only recommend our own binaries in our repository, witch one you should try, depend on your OS.
I am on openSUSE, which has YAST, there its as simple as changing the repositories.

Or go to the program in yast, and click a different version.

Opensuse is not debian based, so some command are different on opensuse, there is no apt get , there is zypper someting

Official LMMS does not support rasberry pi, but it might work anyway.

I goolged and found this:

https://www.raspberrypi.org/

https://www.raspberrypi.org/software/

Its seems the operating system is Debian based.

So the appimage from the LMMS download page, might work.
Download for Linux, fingers crossed. After download set rights of the appimage file to executable, and then double click it to start LMMS.
I'm using raspberry pi os (used to be called Rasbian) which is basically a 32bit debian and because the appimage from the download page is 64bit Linux it doesn't work :(
The only problem I'm having is figuring out how to change the repositories
I've tried using:

Code: Select all

sudo apt -t kxstudio install lmms
(I looked up how to switch repositories and it said to use: -t repository-name)
but it says:

Code: Select all

E: The value 'kxstudio' is invalid for APT::Default-Release as such a release is not available in the sources
I'm not sure if I'm not naming it correctly or if it didn't install correctly

Rasbarian is not supported.
As Gps says, your best choice is to try the AppImage:
https://lmms.io/download#linux
Only available in x64
If it does not work, then there is nothing to do.
There is no 64 bit raspberry pi os ?

As musicbear said, there is no newer 32 bit Linux version.

So you need to have a 64 bit os, or stick with LMMS 1.1.3, which does support 32 bit.
Maybe the linux musicians forum can help you.
There are people there, who are using debian based distro's.

I know nothing about apt, which is what debian uses.
My Linux distro has zypper for stuff like this.
Okay
Thx for helping me :D

I think there is a 64 bit version now. https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/raspbe ... os-64-bit/
