no sound

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi, I'm very fresh on lmms, and I have no idea how to solve this problem

after downloading lmms windows x32 for windows7 x64 computer, I opened the program and
instead of this http://lmms.sourceforge.net/wiki/index. ... ng_Started screen,
the general setting (http://lmms.sourceforge.net/wiki/index. ... S_Settings) screen showed up.
not knowing what else to do than click OK, I did, and a dialogue box that said something along the lines of "changes wont take effect till you restart lmms" showed up.
after "ok"-ing the box, I did end up at the starting screen, but no sound from lmms came through.

for example, i would go to the piano-roll editor, and click on a pitch, but no sound would reach my headphones, or my speakers.
also, i couldn't get a preview of the samples sounds when i clicked on the names.

in addition, whenever I start lmms, the setting screen pops up..

what can I do?

thanks

ps: volume is not the problem :P
when you start lmms the program need to get some input in the setup, eg

On the tabs you enter the pathts for where your files are going to save and where lmms should look for presets & loops
You need to only use normal english chars in the naming of all files and paths!!
You should also open the audio-setting and make sure you have the SDL chosen
I would gues .. that you have dummy-no sound chosen, and that would be the issue.
If this does not fix your problem, just post here again

I have the same problem, however when I set the sound setting to portaudio and chose my device, it reverts back to dummy. When I set it to SDL I do not see anything listed for devices. I use a USB headset, but also have a sound card as well. Portaudio setting lets me see the sound card and the USB headset, but it does not stay set, it reverts back to dummy. Please help. I must be doing something wrong.
Try setting the audio interface to SDL and click ok without entering anything into the devices box. When LMMS opens as usual, close and restart the program. The settings window should not appear and it should play sound.
One bit of info which should be in the installation files for Windows users but isn't is that you should go to Settings and choose SDL.
Then:
Run > dxdiag > choose the 3rd tab (Display) > look in the top-right corner for Main Driver > copy it to the Settings for SDL dialog.

Voila!
Worked for me.

Another kind soul offered this solution and now I can't find the reference.
Thanks to that person.
