Help with Mega Man X Soundfont

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hey there! I'm new to LMMS and have been teaching myself how to use it with the hope of being able to compose Mega Man X-style compositions and remixes. In order to do so, I've downloaded a Mega Man X soundfont from William Kage's website.

However, doing so has caused me to run into a problem. Though I'm able to load the soundfont into the SF2 player just fine, the sounds don't play correctly. For most intstruments, whenever I hold down a key in the piano roll, rather than playing as one long continuous note, it instead plays as though a rapid series of notes are sounding in succession.

Does anyone know what the problem might be here? For the record, I'm currently using Windows 8 and my current audio interface is SDL.

Welcome to the forum! First, For you Zennistrad all important links:

Great explanation of the problem with all important info. Tnx!
The first thing that come to mind, is that you accidentally has Arpeggio invoked.

Do you have that active (green light for Arpeggio)?
That would make the result you describe

If that not the problem, just post again :)
No, it doesn't look like that's the issue. Turning on the arpeggio makes the notes repeat faster.

Is it an issue with the soundfont itself? I've seen people make Mega Man X style compositions with the soundfont in FL Studio, so I suspect the problem is with some configuration that's different with LMMS, but I honestly have no idea.
To bad, then the soundfont is no good in lmms :/
Could you link us to what you call megaman-x-style music, there is propl. an alternative to the soundfont
Something that sounds like this.
You could try something like:
http://www.mattmontag.com/projects-page/nintendo-vst
The sounds are 8-bit sounds, known from the very first synths, and game-consols, but there is also 'normal' acoustic rock-band instruments in the mix, but the 8-bit should be possible with the vst above.
In lmms itself Freeboy, bitInvader and SiD is meant for 8 bit sounds, but also Nescaline and sfXr, will create good 8-bit sounds

Could this be a case of keyboard repeat? Does the soundfont work right if you draw a long note in the piano roll and play that?
Yeah, I kept getting that problem until I got the Megaman X/X2 Soundfont. It works perfectly, with instruments and samples from both games, You can get it at https://musical-artifacts.com/artifacts/217
And if you want the Megaman X3 Soundfont, here it is at http://www.mediafire.com/file/w4ra8b1k4 ... Man+X3.sf2
This seems to be a problem with the way fluidsynth deals with soundfonts which have invalid loop points (thus breaking the sf2 spec and not really a bug in fluidsynth). I've reported it and provided some examples to them and it seems this will be fixed soon-ish https://github.com/FluidSynth/fluidsynth/issues/149

Not sure when it will propagate to LMMS or other fluidsynth plugins though.

BTW, yes the X1/X2 soundfonts here works great and I've been using it a lot https://musical-artifacts.com/artifacts/217
Hello, I did not come here to answer you because I do not have an answer (sorry to help you) rather I come to ask a question, I do not ask it in the question forum because I just created this account and I do not know how this website works. The question is a bit similar to your problem and it is that when I download the sounds of megaman x on the same page where you downloaded them, when opening them with lmms before being able to do it, I mean when I clicked on the file as such because it did not let me open it within the lmms program or rather it did not appear

Well the thing is that when I clicked on the downloaded sound file to open it, it told me that I didn't have the SLD or that I would reinstall it and the truth is I don't know what SDL.dll is
