Running winxp 32bit.

Installed the software and started it up. It's stuck on the loading screen and never changes:

Why? :/

Hmmm.
That's a strange problem. :geek:
I'm curious.

1) Are you using the 32 bit version?

2) When you were installing it, did you run it as administrator?

Suggestion: If the problem still persists, and you didn't install Lmms as administrator, try uninstalling Lmms
and run it as administrator and tell us how it goes. :)

I'm the administrator by default as there are no other "profiles/accounts" on the computer. So that won't work no matter what I do.

Yes 32bit.

Welcome to the forum Otviss! First, For you all important links:
http://lmms.io/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4740

1.1.3 from our official page does run on XP, so there should be no problems in that direction. The issue could unfortunately be HW
What are your specifications, especially:
* How much RAM does you have
* are you on a labtop with an onboard soundchip

The RAM thing is most important, you do need ~2 gb

I also have other ideas, but lets start with this in the first round. Dont worry. If HW is sufficient it will come alive :)

Hey thank you very much!

No that's what's strange. Desktop computer. 2gb ram. :0 Everything should be fine

Do you want my dxdiag?

I loaded it up and it gave me a "Last time you used "Directmusic" you encountered an error, do you want to skip it in this scan?"...hmmmm

Also, everytime I load up lmms, at start up my computer makes a little "bzzt" a brief buzzing noise, as if it's trying to access something and failed.

Have in mind. This is indeed a 10 year old computer.

Have you considered switching to Ubuntu? I was able to make the fist four tracks in my Soundcloud profile on a Toshiba NB-505, with an Intel Atom (dual-core, 1.66 Ghz) and 2 gigs of ram, while running Ubuntu. Ubuntu can really revitalize a computer, and you can dual boot your computer as well.

ahh.. then there could be an issue with something.

What about playing other stuff. Like videos on youtube or better an other music-program. Can you do that.
Audacity is a good test, and it is in it self, a brilliant program, especially in coherence with LMMS
http://www.audacityteam.org/

What you also could do, is to run dxdiag from console. -I actually think that may be the 'scan' you had a popup about..
Try that, and If you get some weirdness in those diag-steps, see if windows can repair it, or what else come up as suggestions - perhaps a driverfile-update.

Ok so I tried a few things:

Did tests for "DirectMusic" and passed them all. Audio playback on VLC, Audacity,Youtube etc. Is all fine. Whenever I run dxdiag now I don't get that error message from before even after having started LMMS and let the computer do the little bzzt! Hahaha.. So I don't think the error has to do with LMMS...

My sound card driver is the latest and up to date...what else is there to do? :/

This might be a stretch. :geek:
But do you have the latest Microsoft Visual C++ x86 Redistributable thingy
installed on your WIn XP PC?

If not, install one and see how it goes. :)

You have tried to un-install Everything and remove the previous installation packaged, and to dl a fresh new one from here:
https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/releases/d ... -win32.exe

and i hope you are not one of those that never do a real shut.down, but always only put the pc in sleepmode.. witch is a deadsure way to pile up c&%¤ in caches and mem :/ -If so Do make a propper shutdown!

I do wonder.. Could you do a search for a file for me..
This is kind of a longshot, because you should not have that file -yet, but
In your :
'Documents and Settings'
Do you have a file
.lmmsrc.xml
Observe the dot.
Use the search-tool, to look for this file.
IF you find it, something is quite wrong.. But then i have a new take on it..

It is weird.. Are your XP a full 'real' one, or ... 'something' else ?

Brandys suggestion has to do with:
http://lmms.io/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7& ... 599#p15599
But you do not have that popup, so i doubt unfortunately that it has bearing
