Hello Forum,

I managed to solve this issue while I was composing this post, but thought I'd drop it here anyway in case other people have similar problems.

-----------------------------

I have used VeSTige under LMMS succesfully with many free plugins like Minimogue, Crystal, Synth1 etc and it worked fine till recently.

Now, when I have selected the dll to plug in and click ok in VeSTige, I get the following Windows error message:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

After this message, LMMS itself reports:

The VST-plugin C:/Program Files/VSTPlugins/Synth1 VST.dll could not be loaded for some reason.
If it runs with other VST-software under Linux, please contact an LMMS-developer!

And that is where the plugging-in suddenly stops.

1)
My first step to solve this was to properly uninstall LMMS, reboot, download the latest version and install that from scratch. This did not help.

2)
Second -circumventing TrustedInstaller problems- I copied the dll that the above Windows error message refers to from my laptop to my pc on which I have this LMMS problem. My laptop runs the same Windows and LMMS versions and still happily allows me to use VeSTige without problems. This did not help either.

3)
My firewall nor its settings have changed from before, but I must say I recently changed from AVG free to AVAST free anti-virus software. Realtime shields have been turned off, but this did not help solve the problem either.

4)
I then tried to run a "Selective-Startup-using-System-Configuration" so that AVAST would not be started during bootup, but AVAST got in the way and would not allow me to change this configuration.

5)
Uninstalled AVAST completely and now the VeSTige plugin works once more.

I am running Windows 7 Home premium SP1 and LMMS Version 0.4.13 win32/x86_64 QT 4.7.4, GCC 4.5.4 20120126 (prerelease).

Bye.
