Hello,
Here is a track I am working on, inspired by the Phrygian church mode and eastern cliche riffs (using an 'Oud'), mixed with industrial and acid sounds. Feedback would be appreciated

The Oud sounds (tiney clackity string instrument) is thanks to an SF2 made available by fernandoamartin at linuxmusicians:https://www.linuxmusicians.com/viewtopi ... 865#p68865.

According to Wikipedia, Industrial music makes heavy use of the Phrygian mode, which surprised me a bit. Gotta love that Minor 2nd!
It sounds like an OST for a Desert stage in a video game. :)
The Camel synth sound, really adds to this deserty track. 8-)
Nice.

I noticed that this track has a distant far off sound to it. Like if it's being played, from a speaker a distance away.
Was that deliberately done, to give that distant overall effect to this track? :)
Glad you like it! I think that "distance" sense is part of the aesthetic of industrial music, like a band playing in an abandoned warehouse. E.g., NIN would always run their synths through an Amp and record, adding analogue warmth and presumably getting room modes/reverb too.
Thats my gripe with Brostep/Chiptune and other new electronic genres: no sense of space, no analogue warmth.
