Back-ward compatibility is one of the most important things in every aspect of the development process. As long as the 1.x series continues, everything will be done to preserve backward compatibility. It is actually one of LMMS' points of excellence! Even projects made 2006 can be loaded! And unless the current xml file formate was dropped for something horrible, there would still be either an internal or at least an external way to convert old project, im sure about that, cause i would build one :p
