Sharing, possibly selling songs made with lmms??

HEYO~!

I was wondering, you have full claim over the songs you make with lmms, right? So then you could sell songs made with lmms and it's sounds, etc.?

I don't think I'll ever sell songs made with lmms, but I am considering sharing songs I make with it online, and I want to make sure I have, like... full ownership over the songs I make and all that blah. Ya know?

Answers would be gREAT!!

The answer is more complicated than you probably hoped .

If you only used the instruments, samples and loops that come with LMMS and the song is completely original then yes you're fine. It's all yours.

But if you make a copy of someone else's song or even use parts of the melodies from another song then you can't claim it as your own and you will have copyright problems.

If you use any samples or loops from the Internet then you need to check what their licence conditions are. They often allow free sharing of music made with them but quite a few do not allow commercial use i.e. selling things made with them. That's always the way with sampling. If you sample someone's song then they will still own the rights to it.
