can't duplicate piano roll

OK, LMMS newbie here.

I was following a tutorial on How to Make Epic Music with LMMS — it was the next one after "how to create a basic sequence."

I laid down the bass tracks ok. When doing the melody tracks, I noticed something: The notes in the video had lines in them, which seem to denote additional applications of the note, like this:

I can't seem to duplicate this. I can place a note, and I can adjust its position and length. But that's about it. What I get is this:

The guy who made the video edited it so that we don't see how he places his notes. They appear, seemingly out of whole cloth, around 04:33 in the video.

What are these white lines called, and how can I duplicate them in my work?

Those seem to be the edges of the note that you can move your mouse to and make them shorter or longer. The first screenshot, seems to show the notes right next to each other IOW, no space between them...

yeah that might be it. I created some notes like that, and this is what happened:

It's hard to tell because the resolution of the video tutorial isn't that great, but it kind of looks like what he did too. If I squint, I can see a faint secondary line after the big tickmarks.

Thats like mvmusic says, just notes in sequence. I f you put your oven notes en sequence, and make a screenie, it will look like 'lines' too.
But there are indeed an additional features in notes, that does make them look different

musikbear: Yes, I'm at least passingly familiar with the Detune feature. It was in one of the intro videos I watched. I haven't used it yet, though.

How did you get the forum to put your screen shot in-line? It didn't work for me earlier, using the tags in the editor.

What I normally do on imgur:
a) Click on the image, to make it look bigger.

b) Right click on the image, and select copy image location.

c) Paste the link on the Lmms Forums.

d) On the Lmms Forums, High light or select the link text, then select/press the word Img
located at the top right of the screen.

e) Press preview to see how it looks, or press submit, to see your post and images.
