Effects question?

I have a VST effect that I want to apply. It takes 2 inputs as L/R channels. I am able to set the pan on 2 audio inputs accordingly and then route them to the same FX channel, where I then apply the effect. The problem is that now it applies the effect to every effects channel. Am I able to apply the effect to just that one channel?

I tried to work around it by getting a VST crossfader and then routing the audio through that and putting the effect in the crossfader, but I can't find where you're supposed to route the audio inputs to the plugin. Help?

So you have panned one track 100% to the left, and the other 100% to the right. Then you chose the same FX channel for both of them.
Are you sure you applied the effect on only that FX-channel? Normally the text "Master" on the master channel is in green, because you have that channel selected. If you click on another channel its text will become green, which means you have it selected. Now all effects you apply to this FX-channel should only affect that channel...
