LMMS 4.15 PROBLEMS: MIDI

Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
So, I'm running LMMS on a HP laptop with 4G RAM and Windows 7, just for baseline info.

I'm having problems with it recognizing my midi controller (M-Audio61es).

First, I can no longer record from midi using the record button inside of the piano roll. This is with ZynSubFX and with VST's I have downloaded (DSK, NubiLE, etc.)

Second, while running the SF2 player that came onboard with LMMS, it doesn't recognize the MIDI keyboard input. (I donated to the guy making all the DSK instruments and got his SF2 pack and I'm running through "SF2 Player" and I want to use a flute sound that came with it)

I use LMMS to put together my own beats...

BUT I ALSO AM USING LMMS FOR LIVE GIGGING WITH MY REGGAE BAND. I play the keys so having a B3 and a Vox Connie and that DIG Rhodes inside ZynSub is essential but I also use the SF2's to emulate any other odd instruments that they want added. I'm going to have to abandon LMMS if I can't get the SF2's to play on the MIDI keyboards.
I am so sorry that I can not help you much with this :(

I have heard about others which also have had problems with Zyn and VST on MIDI, but never SF2. It is strange, cause they should all work... :(

The only thing I can think of is increasing the latency because Zyn and VST definetely uses a lot of RAM.

that could be some conflict with the midicontroller that you have. not all midi hw works with lmms. i dont know that one you have, so you need to see if some one else know anything about this, but that is a long shot ;/
I have the same problem with the latest versions 4.14 and 4.15 - my controller triggers all vst and sounds perfectly. I can solo over tracks I have created with the mouse in piano roll and hear all sounds. I can record in piano roll using the computer keyboard. The only thing I cannot do is have lmms record the midi performance from my device- one exception is the default "organ" sound that loads when you open lmms. I have tried deleting this instrument and setting up a new one with the same midi paramaters (channel, input, output device etc.) with no luck. Other audio issues that may or may not be related are random volume changes usually getting quieter as the program is used - the lower volume carries over into windows. Changing levels with software has no effect as it seems the master volume level has been lowered across the board. Restarting windows sets levels back to normal. Also have some instruments refusing to send note off when a note is played by any method - so my opening bass note for example will sustain indefinitely even if I delete the instrument. Shutting down lmms is the only way to stop the drone.
