Lemon Cake (WIP)

I have been watching a lot of the LMMS documentation tutorials and I would say that this song I made is a melting pot of everything that I have learned up to this point. The melody doesn't match up with the beat in a few TINY places but this song is super catchy. Drop needs just a bit more flare to it. Oh and by the way, if your struggling with making your melodies, just use arpeggio it helps a LOT.

My head is saying to itself: "Let's go eat some Lemon Cake, yay yay yay yay!" and it's like a virus.

And yes, I came up with that name after I ate lemon cake with a raspberry filling last night. It was delicious.

Listen to it here: https://lmms.io/lsp/?action=show&file=11324

Feedback is always appreciated!

Enjoy!
Do you have it uploaded on Youtube, soundcloud etc?

And now thanks to you, I feel for lemon cake, or cheese cake, with strawberry fruity filling on top. :)
Here you go. I made a few improvements to it. I wanted to make the drop more significant but I don't know what I could possibly add. Enjoy!

Had to tweak the volume just a tad bit.

In the first version, the master strikes at the top of the red zone.

The second version is very fun (but a bit repetitive).

Yeah, I have problems with making variations in my melodies, got any tips for that? I am getting better no doubt. I just need a little more work.

The use of a motif implies varying it!

The repeated use of a motif inevitably leading to monotony, it is essential to vary it by introducing changes. But by changing each characteristic of the motif, one takes the risk of making it unrecognizable. Varying a motive implies, therefore, changing some of its less important characteristics while preserving those that are crucial. The preservation of rhythmic characteristics is in general an effective means of establishing a clear lineage between a motif and its declination. Through a whole series of modifications, a variety of shapes of the pattern can be created and serve as a matrix for the composition. The rhythm, the intervals, the harmony, the melodic outline are all subject to alterations, combined or not. Schoenberg gives a list of possible changes per characteristic of the pattern:

Variation of rhythm:

- By changing the length of the notes
- Repeating certain notes
- By repeating certain rhythmic formulas inside the motif
- By shifting the rhythms over different times of the measurement
- By adding a lift (starting a musical phrase before the first beat of the measure)
- By changing the metric: 4/4 to 3/4 for example.

Changing Intervals

- By changing the order or direction of notes
- By adding or omitting intervals
- By introducing passing notes within the intervals of the pattern
- By reducing by condensing or omitting intervals
- By repeating certain intervals or groups of intervals
- By shifting certain intervals over other times of measurement

The harmonic structure that underlies the exploitations of a pattern can vary in several ways

- Inversions of chords
- Final extension
- Intermediate insert of chord(s)
- Substitution of an agreement or a succession of chords

Depending on the case, the melodic profile of the pattern will be adapted:

- By transposition
- By adding passing notes
- By a semi-contrapuntal treatment of the accompaniment

Thank you! So, do you think I'm getting better because I do. I have been working on using LMMS every day now for a little less than a week.

(I just lost a little over half of my followers on SoundCloud, ouch). It was 11 before, now it's 5
I believe time will do its work.

One week is not much. Often, this is the story of a lifetime.
