Cannot install lmms on windows8

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
And that goes for all versions. Anyone else having this trouble?
Well. How attached are you to win8? ;)

Seriously though... try uninstalling all LMMS files (you can keep your projects/presets etc.), then running a registry cleanup (or whatever the equivalent is for win8, I'm not sure if "registry" is still a thing, the last windows I used was xp), run an antivirus scan, and whatever problem-solving tools windows provides for you... Then try reinstalling again.

CCleaner is something that is often recommended for registry cleanup, again not sure if this applies to 8.

Not much else to say really. Hope you get it working.
Here's the thing, I have lmms on linux right now, but, as a fact, lack the rights (for a long time) to install anything new on linux. It's something I, myself, cannot help, unfortunately. I, too, think linux is better than windows for lmms. :D

Now, I do have rights on windows8. I am pretty sure there is nothing uninstalling and re installing will do, I have already tried.

I'm pretty certain, 99.9%, so do you think I should tell github?

Thanks!

How do you lack the rights... is it someone else's computer? If so, maybe you could just ask them if you can install a newer version.

Have you tried with all the other steps (registry cleanups etc.)?
I am in the process of asking for rights.
Ok, I will try registry cleanup and tell you my results.
can this help you:
https://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/lmms ... 0&start=20
i have xp -crying planned for 7. apr
I have installed lmms 0.9.92 on windows 8! :D

Thanks everyone for your wonderful help! I will give you all credit on my new song.

I reported issue to github https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/issues/451

and Sti2nd https://github.com/Sti2nd

sent me here https://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/lmms ... t=20#p4076

followed all the steps. And fixed my problem! Funny, I searched for something on the forums before and don't know why i didn't see this

Anyway thanks again!

P.S. Although the lfo phase bug https://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/lmms ... f=7&t=1145 is fixed on 0.9.92

it does not export correctly still. Just reminding you if you didn't know :geek:

What's the problem? I haven't noticed any inconsistency with playback/export in the LFO.
I thought maybe the new version hadn't updated its exporting function from the old version, but don't worry about it for now...it might have been a false alarm. And finally, is there a manual to 0.9.92? And if there isn't one, can explain how to draw your own waves https://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/lmms ... =15&t=1230

Currently the only way to get custom waves to the LFO is to edit the waves in some external editor, eg. Audacity, save them as audio files (FLAC, WAV, etc.) and then open them in the LFO controller.

I have actually been considering implementing a simple waveform editor for LMMS, one that could be used everywhere that custom waveforms are supported, but that's somewhere in the future. It's on my already long todo-list.

I have provided some trancegate-like waveforms for use with the LFO controller, they're bundled with LMMS in the waveforms -directory. Double clicking the question mark in the LFO controller opens up a file open dialog in that directory.
