I think I have a simple question, although the answer might not be. 
I try to make covers of songs.
After some searching, I can find which notes are used.
Through sheet music or vids like synthesia.
The part which frustrates me:
I know 100% sure I am using exactly the same notes, still my versions sound awe-full or at least totally different.
Can anybody point me in the right direction.
I have noticed that about every synthesia popcorn vid, uses different notes, but the difference ( relative between the notes ) is the same.
Do I need to search for sounds that go well together instead of what I have now, or is there another problem.

Things I have already tried, mark scale and move the notes up and or down.
But that does not really change anything.
I am starting to wonder, is a tone lets say c5 the same for all synths in lmms ?
It does not sound like that to me ?
