How do I use preset banks from VST Synths?

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi,

I am very new to LMMS for Windows. This is probably a very basic question, but I can't figure out how to load presets that come with VST Synths. If I open them in VSTHost, there are tons of them. I can't see how to load them from VeSTige.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.
whitch vst are we talking about?
Is it in the list
http://lmms.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Tested_VSTs
Those vsts loads the banks perfectly -if installed correctly -eg with the executeable as in synth1 -just to mention an example.
I think I worded it wrong. I can't figure out how to change the VST preset from within LMMS. Some of the VST's I'm using are on the officially tested list, others are not, but they all open the GUI from within VeSTige.

In VSTHost, for example, you can usually right-click on the VST GUI and it shows a list of the presets, or you can click on the "Effect" drop-down menu, and it shows the banks of presets down at the bottom. But I can't find a similar function in LMMS. What am I doing wrong?

what specific -its name VST are you refering to - one example its -name-.
For Synth1 for instance -if installed correctly -you will see the total list of banks if you leftclick on the bank.
It varries from vst to vst- there is no 'general bank button'
Hi musikbear,

Here are some examples:

Example 1: Drakqs
Example 2: SuperWave P8
Example 3: NoiseMaker

I don't understand how to change to a different preset on these.
I only know superwawe p8 - mine is v. 1.7 -that version- at least has no banks.
Are yours newer?

I think you may be looking at the same examples as an other user who asked a similar question a week ago (..whitch i strangely cant find.. :/
He was looking at routed banks from Reason (i think..) and then any vst will apear to have preset- banks
Are your vsts on your own pc, or are this something you have seen on the net?
I am using Superwave P8 v. 2.1 for Windows. The presets show up in VSTHost under the "Plugin" menu. It is when I try to use it in VeSTige, that I can't find how to change the preset. The presets change in VSTHost, depending on which synth I'm using at the time. Some have lots of presets, and some have only a few, and they all have different names, depending on the VSTi.
..spooky.. i think you are correct. I have been investigating and found several examples on loading p8 presets in various DAVs
...unfourtunately :/ -that is not supported in lmms.
I think a middlelayer is missing. Some vsts loads on a middlelayer, others do not. I will try to get an explanation from toBy, and if a solution is posible i will post it here.
For now .. it actually seams that even though p8 loads and use incredibly litle resourses in lmms, the full functionality is simply not there :/
Bommer..
Ty for pointing this out. i hope a solution will be posible.

I now have a 'kind of' solution for TALnoizeMaker.
first create 2 new folders in your lmms instalation
one folder in your vsts main-folder :'TALpresets'
one in your instruments :'TALinstruments'
Open VSThost and load TALnoizeMaker
Browse the presets
If you find one you would like to use in a project, click the button 'SAVE PRESET' in the lowest right cornor. Point to your 'TALpresets' folder and save
Continue with all presets.
Open LMMS
load TALnoizeMaker
click the button 'LOAD PRESET' in the lowest right cornor. Point to your 'TALpresets' folder and find the preset you want to use in LMMS
You will now have the preset loaded in LMMS, and you can now save the instrument in your TALinstruments' folder, and reuse that in any project.
I know this is a sloppy hack, but at least it beats turning all knobs manually :D
