I've had a look an i can't see anything with MIDI which I now understand is the problem but thanks for your help. Is there any keyboards you recommend for recording with MIDI with a small budget

I don't care, that list is a bit pointless tbh, almost all MIDI hardware will work with LMMS, except a very few software dependant ones - like the novation launchpad, which probably won't work in LMMS completely, because its made for Ableton Live.

Ive been having a similar problem. i have version 1.1.3 and i have windows 8 and when i go into my piano roll for my bass line it wont record but i can hear the notes being pressed. Anyone know what the problem could be?

Not emediately, but i have some guesses
Could it be that you 'record' at a different time-position? That ca happen if you have loop-points.
Try this:
Open an empty new project.
Insert the same instrument that you use in the or. project.
Can you 'record' those note-events?

I have LMM 1.2.0-rc3.5.1 on Linux (mint), and I still have this problem. I can record from MIDI on instrument 1, but if I disable midi IN for instrument 1, and try to record from for example instrument 6 (with the correct midi input), I get sound when I play on my keyboard, but it's not recorded

I NEVER 've been able to trigger ANY of MIDI activity on LMMS though it
shows that the item is connected (Midi Keybord nor APC 25 AKAI)
