LMMS 1.2.0 Freezing when loading VSTs using VeSTige

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hello there!
I was working on LMMS and it was working perfectly.
Windows 8.1
I got some malware so I had my laptop fixed and I installed Windows 10.
now whenever I load ANY VST using VeSTige LMMS freezes and any click causes it to crash.
I'm using LMMS 1.2.0
I also tried the version I was using previously (1.1.3), and either LMMS crashes or nothing at all happens.
thanks in advance!
update: I tried dragging the VST directly and it gave me an error saying that libwinpthread-1.dll is missing.
Do I download the .dll? or do I give up on it until the next patch?
Have you uninstalled the old LMMS version ?

I have googled, libwinpthread-1.dll

This even gave met result Linux related. ( mingw )
And a page that wanted to install a register repair program for windows.

(Funny because I am on Linux, there is no register to fix)

I am gonna wait for muskbear, to respond.

You might need to fix you're windows register.

Windows repair might be an option, but I am more familiar with Linux.

You could try to download the .dll, but unless its from Microsoft them self, that is very dangerous, and asking to be infected again.

'Fixed' as in formatted?
Have you done a complete win10 installation from scrap, or have you chosen to update your 8.1 to current 10?
If you only have updated, then i think your installation still is infected/ flawed.

But anywitch, this is a clean version of the missing dll

LMMS 1.2.1 expects it to be in two folders:
C:\Program Files\LMMS
and
C:\Program Files\LMMS\plugins\32
Eg you must copy the included file into BOTH these folders
Try that
Do get a good virus-scanner, several good are free-ware!
I'm on a brand new Lenovo L340 gaming PC running Windows 10. I'm having the exact same issue with the program. I haven't done much else with it but a single test project.

Exact same issue?!
You are getting a popup telling you that you are missing that dll??
Where do you have your install from?
please post your:
* Name of your Operative System (Windows/ Linux/ Mac) And subtype ('Home' 'Mint' '10.13' aso)
* lmms version
* lmms sound device chosen
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=LM ... o_Settings
* hardware specification (ram & soundcard is the most important)
* VST involved & link to a download for this VST
Maybe it helps. Under linux there is a problem loading VSTs when XEmbed is selected for the plugin embedding. Maybe it is the same for windows. Change the option for the plugin embedding, if possible.
It's worth a try, but on Linux its not when loading a vst, that bug happens after a while were both the vst and lmms at first worked fine.

Then suddenly the lmms gui goes on strike, were the vst gui, is still working.

I had opened up a bug report that got closed recently, because the devs found out it was an duplicate. :)

( for those not familiar with GitHub, that's progress )

When I had issues on Windows though with any program, I had this routine that might help here too.

Uninstall the program (LMMS), after you made a back up of the stuff you want to keep.

Run a register cleaner.

Reinstall the program as admin.
