PatMan trouble and weird initialization.

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi.
I'll be quick, people. PatMan loads GUS-patches, but no sound comes out. Also, everytime I open LMMS, it shows the configuration wizard, as if I was opening it for the first time. What should I do?
I have been using LMMS 0.4.10 in Vista Ultimate and it was fine, but now my computer is dead and I'm using mom's computer (Vista Business) and dad's computer sometimes (XP Professional). Both got this same problem. I put LMMS 0.4.8 in dad's computer and 0.4.9 in mom's.
currently 0.4.9 is the official supported version. For a week or so a 0.4.10 has been out for bug testing, but it is not a good idea to use 0.4.10 for real projects (yet:).
In respect to your initialization problem:
I have not seen relapses to config wizard in 0.4.10 during my bug-tests on XP, so that puzzles me ..
Have you entered your default paths in the preferences?
It shouldent really matter, but try anyways..
Patman does work for me (XP) -Are you sure the path is correct (it should be if you use the file icon to load the GUS-patch.. (?)
..so use 0.4.9 and make a clean install, add your paths in Edit| Settings, and post here again if it still gives you trouble
Br.
I tried to open the configuration file by myself and realized that the ">" at the end of the code was missing. I added it and it initialized well, but I restarted and the problem came back. It only worked once and I need to add ">" at the end of the configuration file everytime I start it. Even so, GUS still doesn't work.
I tried 0.4.9 and 0.4.10 in mom's computer, both has the same problem.
I got more info:
1) I put Windows 7 Professional in mom's computer, the problem persists.
2) I tried to install DirectX10, nothing happened. I thought it would work since mom's computer and dad's computer has, respectively, DirectX11 and DirectX9. While I used 10 in my old computer, everything went well.
3) Tried to download patches from another site, but without any success.
4) Neither of the machines has C++ libraries (going to install now).
5) If I try to export a file as .wav, I only get a 0kb file that I can't delete. I can only export to .ogg.
I'm considering switching to Ubuntu soon, to try to fix the problem; I really need to play these patches.
very odd problem..your initialization :/ You did make a clean install? (backup own work, removed lmms completely, downloaded a new 0.4.9 install-file -here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmms/files/
- and re-installed)?

..weird, though :/
Maybe doing the clean install thing help; I'm almost sure that it's softawre-wise problem. I mean, isn't a hardware fault if the configuration file has a missing character. But there's any tool to uninstall LMMS completely? Tried IObit Uninstaller and Revo UYnistaller, but LMMS doesn't appear on the program list, so I have to use the NSIS uninstaller that comes with the program. I tried to unistall using the normal uninstaller and reinstalled, but didn't worked. I suspect that the PatMan problem is something related to sound driver, I wish I could install my driver in this machine, but I can't find the CD (Realtek HD Audio). I'm going to downgrade the sound driver as soon as I find the CD. I don't really care about the initialization, but I care about PatMan. The exporting problem can be easily fixed by downloading a .ogg to .mp3 converter. I just want my patches working again.
Okay, the problem persists, but I got Ubuntu and I'm going to install it as soon as my disc is defraged. I got more info:
1) Sf2 Player is working, so I can use GUS.sf2 to replace GUS-patches.
2) When I drag a control to Automation Editor, both the control that is being dragged and my cursor get affected by a graphic glitch, similar to the old "dot crawl" (when a PAL TV receives NTSC signal).
3) I added ">" to the code and put it on read-only mode, it may fix the initialization.
I'm having this very same problem. I have ubuntu studio distro that came with 4.5. That one worked just find and it was able to detect my already configured ALSA sound. I decided to get 4.9 update today. did a cmake install and everything went fine. restarted my computer and ran lmms and it brought up the settings menu. But ALSA wans't an option only OSS and Dummy. i tired it anyway on dummy, no sound of course. I tired loading it up again and realized that it also brings up the initialize settings menu every time I load up the program. Would really like to get it to work now haha.
