lmms crashes on project saved from .bak

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
lmms keeps crashing while loading things. Using ubuntu 20.04 and lmms v1.22. silently exits (so no error messages).
Share the project? Maybe it's a problem with a specific VST in your project. If this is the case, you can open the .mmp file (if it's mmp, but mmpz you can't) in an xml editor and delete the VST tracks
If this crash is on all projects though, then I don't know :| you might have to debug, and I'm not sure how to do it on Linux.

Thanks for your reply. There are no VST's that are in the project. But recently a program screwed up my root permissions on all accounts so I'm putting it down to that. unfortunately it is a mmpz so i cant edit the xml. It isn't on all projects tho. it crashes when it reaches around 95% which is weird.
If there are no VSTs, then that's also a good thing, even if it's mmpz. It means you can open the file on any computer without worrying about broken VST tracks.
It's possible it's because of your root permissions breaking... but since this is limited to a single file, it's unlikely.
Did you use any instruments in it that you didn't use in any other projects? Could cause it.
Can you share the mmpz file with us? Upload it to something like Google Drive and link to it here. One of us can check it for you, see if it crashes for us too.

If the mmpz is UN-corrupted, then you can convert it to MMP and edit the xml there are no problems in that.
You do however need a functional LMMS.exe so i cant say if you can do that with your current instance of lmms.
Upload the project as monospace said, and i will give it a go
Besides that, since you are new in Forum

Sorry for not replying. Thanks for all your help. It was due to the fact that I had installed LMMS through Synaptic  So if anyone needs this for reference USE THE APP IMAGE as the project was a 1.2.2 version rather than a 1.2.1 that synaptic has.
