Audio not playing on Mac m1

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Currently, none of the audio settings seem to work on a apple silicon Mac m1, and I can't find anything online about how to fix it.

MAC is difficult for me. I never owned one, but in general sound issues can be caused by selecting a wrong backend so i will suggest that you start there:
Read: https://docs.lmms.io/user-manual/gettin ... o-settings
Go through each of the options you have on your MAC, and see if that does something positive.
Let us know the outcome :)
Actually, I think the main issue is me not knowing how the SDL backend works, do you have any insight on that?

This might not be too helpful, but I've been working exclusively on a Macbook Air M1 with LMMS for about half a year now and never had problems on the default settings; SDL as interface and simply leaving the textbox for the device empty. So whatever the problem may be, I would assume it's not just Apple Silicon. Unfortunately as a result I'm not too familiar with the backend either, sorry.

As Mampfwurm says there is nothing technical in using SDL as back-end.
You just select it, writes nothing in the config-field, Ok it and restart LMMS. That should be it.
But it is not working for you..
Then you need to find the file with all LMMS' configurations. The DOT-file
I need to dig into MAC specifics, because i do not know the MAC-file structure.
I will keep you posted!

Thanks! I will definitely try the default thing again, although for me, the default settings had it set to dummy with no sound output

ACTUALLY THAT JUST WORKED! Thank you so much for your help!
Hello. Have you managed to solve the problem? I had a similar problem on my Mac, but it wasn't only the audio. It lagged a lot, and my biggest problem is that chrome is slow. I use chrome instead of safari, and I can't stand it when it lags.
I've spent a lot of time looking online for the solution. Most cleaning apps are trash, but the one that stands out is the Cleanmymac app. It solved the problem with chrome and other problems too.
The difference in performance is big. My Mac is now clean and works like it did the first day I bought it.

Hello. Did you manage to solve the problem?
Are you having a similar issue?
and with the same MAC OS?
Have you tried SDL with device empty field?

or..?
Besides that, since you are new in Forum
