tuning an 808 on linux

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
i see a video here on how to tune an 808: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1lgNb0Ig2c.

the author uses windows, but the g tune website has a linux download. i downloaded it, but it's a .so file and lmms doesn't seem to support those (or maybe i misunderstood). so can you help?

I must admit, that I don't know how to use external VSTs in linux. In the Linux Mint software manager, there is a tuner called LINGOT which is similar to G Tune. It can't be used as a VST, but it can be used alongside while working with LMMS.

But in order to tune a 808, you don't necessary need a tuner if your 808 is already labeled with the correct key. (Most samples are usually pre-labeled) The only thing you have to do, is simply moving the little white square to the correct note.

The guy in the video has a sample called "Cymatics - Bangin 808 8 - C#". All he had to do, is simply moving the white square to C# and that's it. No need to use a tuner.
Are you on Linux ?

An .so file is an executable file for Linux, like a .exe on windows.

Vestige can' t load those (only windows vst)

Carla might though.

I am on Linux (opensuse)
I did a test, I was able to load Gtune in Carla inside LMMS, but then I got lost, on what to do.

I have no idea on how to link stuff from carla into LMMS.

If the 808 is a sample, then the simplest solution would be to resample it in another key. Use audacity or a similar program for that.
You can also make 808 in LMMS:

I Already Solved This Exact Problem.
Use the VST Tuner and it will tell you what root note your 808 plays. Tunes 808s PERFECTLY EVERYTIME!
