My setup

Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
ADAM TV5, (Focusrite Scarlett Solo, not visible) and a Keystation mini 32 on openSUSE. :)

Whoa, that's beautiful! Absolutely wonderful to look at somehow.
Then there's me with nothing but a Windows PC and weak speakers [:
Well. Time. I hope one day I can have a setup that slots nicely with my music needs.
It all started with me not being happy about how my tracks are mixed.

When I asked feedback, somebody asked if I was mixing with a headphone.

Although he was right, I was totally in shock on how he could hear this.

I was told to get speakers..That was about 3 years ago or so. :)
( studio monitors )

It has already payed off. I listened to a house track of mine on the adam, and oops.

Way too much low end, something I did not notice on my Sennheiser gaming headset (GSP 300)

I did think something sounded a bit muffled, but never would have guessed this to be the cause.

The contrast in music I can hear with these speakers, also the stereo image. :o

These Adam TV5 are active which means you do not need a dac (amp).
You could hook them up to your motherboard directly.
I think however the focusrite is giving me a better wider stereo.

Music does sound a bit better on my headset from the focus, but it also proofs modern motherboards do have a good sound chip. Not that much to gain there.
Wow! Dude, that is an amazing set up. :D

The idea behind the dac is to bypass the chip (dac) from the mother board.

I am beyond happy.

Linux is officially not supported, but the site does say a Linux distro that is usb 2 ?compliant, might work.

It was plug and play, and the way I understand it, if it works on mac without drivers, it will work on Linux too.

Under windows they want you to install some stuff to unlock the device.
You don't have too though, unless you want to download some plugins.
Unlocking the device can be done by holding a button for 5 seconds. The manual explains this.
