No sound from imported midi file

im brand new to LMMS. ive imported a midi file, but get NO sound from it at all, even though all the track indicators light up when a sound SHOULD be played. I do hear sound when pressing the piano keys though. I'm so confused and don't know how to fix this.
ok, found out how to get the sounds to work, had to open each tracks settings, go to midi, output, and select Microsoft GS wavetable synth. but another problem, all of the volume, panning, and pitchs from the midi file got separated into their own "tracks".

The preferred method (recommended) is to insert a soundfont in Settings | Default-soundfont. Then all midi-tracks will use that soundfont -initially!
In fact any instrument or preset can be dragged into any midi-track, and the midi-track will then use that dragged one, also VSTs or any of lmms' own instruments, so you are in no way limited to MS-wavetable sounds when you import midi-notes.
. but another problem, all of the volume, panning, and pitchs from the midi file got separated into their own "tracks".
That is normal. That is how MIDI-files import in all DAW.
It let you make automation for each of the features, you have imported. It may look 'messy' but it works very well.
i had a default soundfont installed, weedsgm4_update.sf2. just switched to fluidr3_gm.sf2 and now everything works fine. i feel so stupid for not testing all 3 of the soundfonts I downloaded XD
