Question about LMMS.

Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
Hey guys, it's time for this thread again but hopefully a little more focused so I don't get pitchforked. I'm a long time musician who hasn't done much with music in several years aside from fiddling around on my bass on occasion. I'd like to get into sound design and music production as a hobby on the side, something to scratch the itch but I don't really want to pump a lot of money into this in case life once again gets in the way [links removed]. Is LMMS a solid, simple program for me to fiddle around with while I decide if this is really gonna click for me? I'm running a fairly competent custom built PC, so power's not much of a concern and I'm willing to upgrade to a more solid program once I've convinced myself this is something that's gonna hold for me.
LMMS can't record audio and does not have time stretching.

You could record with audacity and then import that sound file into LMMS.

So it depends on what you want to do.

This is made with LMMS

LMMS can record midi from a midi controller.
In terms of mixing sounds, its really as good as anything else.
And its compatible with all major sound types, like soundfont.

Its only the live stuff that you actually need anything pro at all.
