i just started with lmms last week. i'm not really too knowledgeable with daws.

around 2015, i started with lilypond (via frescobaldi), then went to musescore, then back to lilypond (via frescobaldi, then emacs) with some rosegarden thrown in.

my objective in the past has been to produce songs (musicals):
- vocal score notation (just voice and piano so far)
- midi (from the score)
- actual vocals (eventually)

the midi from the score leaves something lacking, though it is satisfactory for a preview.

now i'm thinking of the following sequence:
- make the music with lmms
- export midi into rosegarden to create notation
- refine the notation with emacs manually

this approach should give me:
- something that plays well (the midi)
- something that can be played from (the score)

the midi and the score will not match identically of course, but each should serve the purpose intended.

i would appreciate knowing from more experienced individuals than myself, if my plan is a viable/effective one.

are there any suggestions for a better system suiting my purposes?
