Interesting riff without throwing off the baseline

Hello. I'm not a very musical person, but I've been working on this riff for a lil song. It looks like this:

But the riff gets much nicer if I move around the notes a lil bit:

Huge improvement! But now, it's not really in 4/4 anymore. I observe that the music would fit into three bars each 11 gridspaces long... if I pumped up the metrum to some crazy ratio I guess I would be able to do that but I don't know if that would solve the problem or if it would just make my song really messy to produce and as a final result.

I don't expect to find a perfect solution. I tried to elongate some of the other notes to force it to fit 4/4 but that's not good enough. How do I find the metrum?

There really isent any because you have notes 'off-the-grid', and that is fine, you just do not have any std-quantification, and that is also fine. It can be a bit difficult to set a rhythm for a piece like that, but what you need to do, is to use your musicality, and tab-in the rhythm that you feel goes well with your notes.
Yo do that in LMMS you need to replay-and-record simultaneously
This video explain how to do that

Dude, that tune sounds oddly familiar, moreso the trumpet melody. Then I remembered DJ Tiesto's track Infinity. The interesting thing is, when I first heard DJ Tiesto play this song years ago, I knew something sounded strangely familiar. :D
