Problems after change of paths in the GUI

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi everybody.

Some questions:

To make backups easier, I copied my LMMS stuff to new locations and changed my directory settings accordingly from D:\... to C:\users\Bernd\LMMS\...

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/id49gyee ... 0g6d9&dl=0

Some strange things happend after that:

1. The Instrument Plugins all appear twice in the GUI.

2. Even though the new path is shown correctly in the settings of the GUI, for old projects e.g. the soundfonts still a hooked under the old path.
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/c9a72oix ... 5oxf2&dl=0

That's a problem, right? Because if I delete the files under the old paths, old projects would not work anymore.
Is there any way to "refresh" the locations (e.g.) of the soundfonts for the instruments? So that they reflect the paths under settings?

Thanks and cheers

Yes, that will happen if you have 2 installations
2. Even though the new path is shown correctly in the settings of the GUI, for old projects e.g. the soundfonts still a hooked under the old path.
Yes! Soundfonts has an embedded info-line in the project-file. When you change your setup, that hardcoded path inside the project-file will be wrong!

Not for the existing project-files soundfonts, because the path is hardcoded inside the file. For those projects you need to manually edit the path for the soundfile
-Its not good...
It is one of the reasons that we recommend that the default installation should be used. That makes it easy to change to a new pc.
However a reset of settings for new files are possible.
You need to locate and move the Setup-file, witch is a win-dot-file
*If you have made anything ...Back-up your own stuff
*Un-install current installation
*(re)move the config dot-file
Go to
C:\Users\<Username>\
There you have the dot-config file: .lmmsrc.xml
Move it to a different folder.
Install LMMS as you prefer -We recommend default configuration
Insert the default MIDI-file in the path in Edit| Settings, and make sure all Settings are as you like!.
A new LMMS dot-config file: .lmmsrc.xml will then be generated for you
Hi Musicbear.

Thank you very much for your reply.

OK, I will have to look into my old projects and see, how much work it is to modify all the paths in the tracks.

I hadn't seen the recommendation to use the default installation paths.

Cheers
