VST Plugins not working

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
hello,
anyone knows if lmms has a bug with vst plugins?
i use lmms on archlinux and when i add my vst folder and try to open a .dll file nothing happens.
wine is installed.
with other daws the vst plugins are working.
It works fine for me on openSUSE tumbleweed.

Were did you get LMMS from ?

You could try this version:

https://lmms.io/download#linux
1.2.2

Download. Set rights to executable.

Then double click the file to start LMMS.

Does that work?
i use also LMMS 1.2.2 from archlinux.
i also tested appimage from LMMS website.
i add the vst folder in LMMS settings, then open VeSTige and open.dll file and nothing happens.
same .dll file opens without problems in other daw with wine.
I have no idea then.

I just looked at what wine version I am using and it says: 9.0-10.3

The last part of the number is probably opensuse related.

LMMS version: 1.3.0.alpha.1-2.49
Wine9 does not work yet

A previous wine and LMMSAppImage works

Besides that, since you are new in Forum

Issues like this though, is why I these days use geekos daw.

Its like kx repositories, but for openSUSE.

I often had to contact the opensuse lmms package builder, to have the official version from the repositories working fully.
Same with Carla. Since I use geekosdaw this issues are all gone.

It might be an idea to switch to a music specific repository, or does Arch not have one ?

I remember though that the geekos daw guys talked with arch and the kx repository guys when they started that repository.
Maybe you need to talk to the Arch LMMS package builder?

thank you for your message and links.
it just doesn't work.
as I already wrote, my vst plugins work in other daw's.
something must be wrong with lmms.
i've even found searches from previous years where the same problem exists.
i would really like to work with lmms but it's pity that the vst plugins don't open.

it's pity that the vst plugins don't open.
Let me explain again
1: Wine9 cant be installed
2: Wine < 9 MUST be installed BEFORE you install LMMS
3: NO VST3 works
4: Very few specific VSTs does not work in LMMS, and that is afaiu due to flawed plugin-tables i LABS or similar.

Here is a proof of concept
Get MDA-Piano https://plugins4free.com/plugin/201/
It is free, and very small in size as well as resource usage. Further its a quite good piano-instrument, so it is a win win
Lets know the outcome :)
