Issues with instruments echoing

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.

Hi there, I'm new to LMMS, and forums in general!

The only instrument plugin I have been using is the SF2 plugin, but I've encountered a very strange issue. Some instruments have this weird, very dragged on echo. This only seems to happen with percussion instruments, and I have tested a couple different soundfonts to see if maybe I had a bad soundfont file. The two soundfonts I have been using are fanmade, one is an Earthbound (SNES) soundfont and one is a Castlevania Circle Of The Moon (GBA) soundfont. Also, I have a linux device that doesn't experience this issue with the same soundfonts loaded.

I'm not sure how important specs are, I'll just post them.
CPU: i5-5300U
GPU 0: Intel HD 5500
GPU 1: Nvidia GT 830M
Ram: 16 GB DDR3
OS: Windows 10 Home

I also have a video I could share if need be showing the issue.

if linux device does not not have this issue, then maybe is a problem with sound card settings on windows machine, maybe has some echo fx enabled by default, try to check the settings on Windows

From MS page

Right click on the speaker icon bottom right and choose recording devices or something like that. Go ahead and right click on the microphone that you use and select properties. And finally select the Effects tab. For me the Echo bar was checked. as fast as i unchecked it, it removed the echoing.

On windows only SDL sound-backend should be used. Please check that:

LMMS on Windows might be handling soundfont release times differently than on Linux. Try adjusting the envelope settings in the SF2 plugin, especially release and decay. Also, check if your audio backend (SDL, WASAPI, etc.) is different between devices. A video could help pinpoint the issue—someone might recognize the exact cause!
