VirusTotal flagging LMMS

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.

Normally, I don't worry too much if it is a generic detection from an AI virus detection service like BKAVPRO. But this one worries me a bit. I am wondering if more than one coder reviews the nightly builds before they are available for download.

reviews the nightly builds

Nightly for what OS?
Nightly is not up for users to work on. I am not completely alone in that assessment, i am aware that there are devs on various platforms that do recommend ordinary users to get Nightly. I disagree. Nightly is a tool for all that test and find bugs!
For actual production use 1.22 or -and that is my recommendation: 1.3-Alpha!.
Do i believe there is a trojan in Nightly? No, but there could be some test-read/write code that would tricker an alert.
Further is the malware that has been flagged quite old, and only one of 57 services found the signature. It is 99% sure that this is a false positive.
But..
If you use 1.3 you have the most stabile release made, and one that also has most of the reliable and tested features -and actually also the one that we guarantee will be backward compatible when the new off. release is due..

Thank you very much. You actually already voiced your opinion with me a while back but someone else seemed to suggest I should go with nightly. So you are right on the money with you analysis/summary. I agree I doubt very highly it is malware but these days the criminal element has risen to such a fever pitch that I am on the verge of paranoid. We see stories in the news of scammers online, posing as legit. businesses, and even as home handymen. It's a troubling situation. I will go with your recommendation and try the alpha. I only liked the nightly cos it was fun to try out the very latest features. Some very nice. But it will all come in time. Thanks again for your patience and for explaining even more fully.

I hope it will work without any hickups. If you have any just post us again!
