What I have noticed with LMMS is that when you record directly to LMMS from a midi keyboard, you sacrifice the key velocity levels within LMMS with the midi sound. But if it's recorded on the midi keyboard, then import the midi from the keyboard to LMMS it retains the key velocity levels.
I tend to max out the sound in LMMS when my keyboard level is anymore than half way up, also loosing the velocity levels. So for a big bold sound, I have found after the import to LMMS just turning up the gain works.
I'm using Version 0.4.10 (Linux/x86_64,Qt4.8.2,GCC 4.7.1) From the Debian resopitories.
If there is a deb package available for an easy upgrade let me know.

When you play MIDI instruments they are by default set to half volume - 63 of totalt 127 - because LMMS in the Piano roll let you double the volume of each note. You can go to the instrument MIDI tab and choose 127 as the base volume.

Thank you sti2nd, for the advice that works. Now I have tried some of the setting within LMMS, and worked with the triple oscillator a little. Till now I have done mostly midi work.

I want to include it in LMMS but I did not try yet. And I have only the Microsoft MIDIemulator, and a M-audio keyboard.

With W8 there is no more pseudo mixer to plug more than one instrument on the same Microsoft Midi Mapper (the speaker).
If I plug LMMS on this output, will LMMS make the Mapper from multi VST to only one Microsoft Midi Mapper.

I'm still doing things my old way using midi sound fonts.
