Record midi with external keyboard

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
My problem is solved.

I recompiled lmms, using the stable branch. I did not have a clue, I was using the master branch, but that was the problem for me.

See the lmms github for more information.
Hi Gps,

i just read your bugreport thread on the github page and did a git clone of the stable branch. I did a compile and it also works for me now.
Thanks for your work, opening a bugreport and providing the solution.

Cheers,
beku
Glad I could help.
I have a keyboard which i use and it works fine as i record it with other software but lmms is not recognising it for some reason. Any help anyone???
What keyboard ? What version of LMMS ? What operating system. What exactly have you tried in LMMS ?

The only thing I find (M-audio Oxygen 25, LMMS 1.1.3, Windows 8.1) is that it's not good at hot connects. But provided I have the keyboard plugged in when I start up LMMS it's fine.

It's a cheap keyboard i got from Argos and i think it is called acoustic solutions mk-4100a.
It's version 1.1.3 and I have windows 8. I plug it in before i load lmms and it still doesn't work

How exactly did it work before? Did you mean you recorded the keyboard sounds using a microphone connected to the computer? Can you connect the keyboard directly to your computer via USB?

I searched for acoustic solutions mk-4100a, and from what I can find there's no mention of USB-MIDI support. LMMS records MIDI data from a MIDI-supported keyboard via USB cable. It does not record the sound that is coming from the keyboard's own speakers.
i presume it has midi because i use it to record in other programs like Magix MusicMaker SE and the sound recorder that comes with windows.
All i do on them two programs is press record and it stars recording. i dont use a microphone or anything like that to record it.
However i have a feeling that it might not have midi. is there anyway of checking??

I found a pink version of keyboard here: https://www.gumtree.com/p/electric-keyb ... 1129421773
There's a detailed list of features, but no mention of MIDI. If you still have the box/packaging and manual, you may want to check there. But because of its low price range I don't think it has MIDI support.
I've had a look an i can't see anything with MIDI which I now understand is the problem but thanks for your help. Is there any keyboards you recommend for recording with MIDI with a small budget
