yes better, you use a variation with the choir and that add more depth.
Are you sure there is no clipping?
I also think you could gain a lot, if you made a second theme variation, and kind of 'challenged' the current one, with the variation

Great Job !!
Yes that was a lucky find. Takes the song a bit in a different direction, but I like it.

I am not 100% sure there is no clipping, there might be.

I had made a bass line, but it totally gets over powered by the other tracks.
Can I solve this by side chaining ?
I have listened to a vid about side chaining, and it gives a nice wobble, but I am not sure I want that wobble.

Adding a bass booster and such did help a bit, but not enough.

Right now specially from halfway and on, towards the end, its too messy, there is too much happening.

Funny how I tried to give the synths more expression, but now this backfires.
I am starting to use the mixer panel. Judging from the vu meters, there has to be clipping.

They don't slightly go into the red, they don't even turn green LOL

I did not know musikbear had covered Depeche mode :P

I have been mixing a lot, and I hope its finally finished. Feedback as always appreciated.
much better - now i think you could make it 'explode' after 3:0ish. You are coming out of the silent passage (dropdown), and then you build up to the euphoria -then something should happen. Here you go back to the previous theme, and thats often seen, but then something is added -what i think would be good, would be a variation on you theme, just try the notes in a different sequence, or with a more aggresive preset.. and perhaps something with a phase change ??
:) You really should look at automation. It is SO easy in lmms, and it is quite difficult to think of trance without a sweeping filter of some kind
If you need help with getting started with automation, let me know.
Thank you.

Automation is not a problem anymore. My problem is more that I don't know yet what all those plugins do, or which one I would want to use, and or automate.

I used automation in this track, but only on the volumes.
Big step forward was using the equalizer though.
Specially by cutting one frequency. It kind of untangled the sound mess.

The theme has something new on the third part but clearly not enough to be noticed.

A sweeping filter ? Can you give me examples of what that does ? Its one of my biggest problems at the moment, not knowing stuff like this.

I also like you're idea on a better build up especially for the end.
But how do I make something sound more aggressive ?
A phase change ? Were is that knob ? :P

Its somewhat funny, I know from a technical perspective what a phase change is, but related to music, I am lost.
I found this, this might be a good example ?

Its as repetitive as mine but still , it has a bit more variation.

:D ya.. good to redo that .. (one of the most iconic and profitable pieces :)
But
Good to learn from
Listen at 1:30
here we go in a breakdown, and then notice how they variate and play with the theme. They create a 'moode' You just know something will happen
Observe that the theme now is almost tiny a saw that comes out of low-filter, and gets ready for the eupheria
In this buildup, some 'in-your-face' effects!
They say : hey you get ready we are going to e-x-plode!!
in the background -an arp, slowly coming out of low-filter
Then the theme with the aggressive saw, but in variations!
up up up ! rolls up up up cresendo ! 2:30 kaboom!
euporia!
full theme and all the trimmings

Yes a good piece to learn from!
but then
look at this

now its just freaking impressive!!

..this dude

aint half bad either !
Ones again thank you for your very helpful feedback.

I also found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHG5xgbIyF8
Sandstorm on synthesia. I noticed how little I would have to change on my song, to give it a bit more variation.
I prob should just jam on my midi keyboard. Then delete what does not work, and keep what does work.

So that swelling sound is something coming out of a (low) filer. Great ! Been wondering for some time about that effect, because I had already figured out, its not just about volume. ( already did that in my piece )

Saw wave vs sinus wave, to make something more aggressive. :)

Wow about that guy on a launch pad.

I am also a bit jealous about that guy on a piano, damn.
Sometimes I wish I had picked up earlier on making music.

I will have to do some thinking. When I was only starting on this piece, it had more of a build up.
The last part was more different, from the second part.

A phase change, is that about the speed of an lfo ?
