Is your PC always 'On', and 'slept' instead of shut-down properly?
That could be an issue, causing that kind of buffer problem. It is recommended to shut-down, not sleep all electronic devises -at least by me, ...and the 'greenies'

Although Windows users are accustomed to rebooting often, as a Linux user I do not. I reboot when there is a new version of the kernel and my computer is always on. I don't have a laptop so sleeping is not an issue, but I can see why you might see that as a problem.

I'll assume you are thinking that maybe this lag was from excessive buffering having been on for a long time, however I had just connected the MIDISPORT and keyboard for the very first time and then I saw the lag. I don't fully understand the problem, but I'm hoping that resetting the USB will be a fix that doesn't need to be done too frequently.

I appreciate your coming up with ideas. If this site doesn't archive posts I will update with what I learn to help anyone else looking for this answer.

First thing to try is the latest version of LMMS.

Easy to install because its an appimage. Download it, set it to be executable, and you're done.

If that fails it might be an idea to ask the defs on discord.
